The 2011 Ford Escape is vastly different from our 2001 and 2008 Ford Escape. The vehicle is small enough to fit into our 2 car garage, with another vehicle and my husband's work bench. The car is comfortable enough for larger person to sit comfortably for a long road trip. Due to my desire to have heated seats, we had to purchase the top model, but warm seats on a cold winter's day is worth it.
Story
I moved 3 tiered wedding cakes on the same day. I had an 8 tiered, 6 tiered and a five tiered cake, all with a 18 inch base. All of these cakes and the supports fit snuggly in the cargo area. I got pulled over for "speeding". The cop asked why I was in a hurry and told him I had less than 30 minutes to get the cake to the venue and set up. He requested that I open the cargo area to show him th... (more)
Pros
Heating and air conditioning of this vehicle is great. Car cools down quickly when it is hot outside, this is important as I deliver wedding cakes which nee to stay a cold as possible. The heating is equally fast and the car gets warm and toasty, the heated seats are worth it. The size of the auto allows enough space in a normal 2 car garage for you to move around the car. The interior seating is ideal for my husband who is a larger man, both height and weight, he is able to ride comfortably on long car rides. The back cargo area can successfully manage a 8 tiered wedding cake and all supp... (more)
Cons
The color we have is a icy blue color. I had wanted more of the ocean blue or the darker almost navy blue, but this was the only available blue at the time. I which this vehicle had the automatic gate lift, as the back door is over my weight limit. The leather interior is black, as the tan interior was not an option. Our escape has a backup camera and makes the beeping noise when backing, this drives me crazy. I understand the importance of these safety devices, but I think this one is a bit over board. I am not a fan of ABS, as I don't like giving up the control.

2011 Ford Escape - Thankful.

The Ford Escape itself is a wonderful vehicle. I, unfortunately, bought a bad vehicle from a horrible dealer. The SUV brand and type is a fantastic car and would totally recommend it; however, my actual vehicle has had many issues with it which is why I've given it a bad rating above. The vehicle itself is not oversized, making it easy to get in and out of a parking spot but is big enough to hold everything I need. From car seats, animals, groceries, summer beach items, you name it and we've been able to fit in it. The side airbags make it nice to know we are a little more protected. The latch system is fantastic when picking up my young niece and nephew and needing their car seats. I do wish the engine was a little faster as it takes a bit for the car to get moving when stopped at a l... (more)
Story
When I first bought my car, my sweet niece got in it and was tickled pink and so excited that it was a little bigger and cleaner than my last car. I had my last one for over 8 years so it was definitely nice to have something newer. I drive in Michigan and love being able to see above the smaller cars and drive through the snow.
Pros
Absolutely love the sync system. Being able to connect my phone is awesome. I can listen to Pandora while I'm driving to work in the morning which is nice while sitting in traffic. Love the latch system, making it super easy to hook and un-hook my nephews car seat. Love that I can control the radio from the steering wheel. Enjoying that I can drive an SUV without it being so large and hard to handle. There is a lot of room and space to hold everything I need. Fantastic idea to have the extra mirror on the side mirror so I can see the next lane better.
Cons
The sync system does not automatically connect to my phone when I get in. When I'm in a hurry, it takes me a few extra minutes to get it all set up every time I get in the car. That's a little frustrating. Would be nice if it had a little better pick up when you step on the gas. Would love it would tell the temp outside/inside or have a place for sunglasses. Maybe a little mirror in the front to see the back seat for when I have the kids.
