What I like about my vehicle is the size of it. It is an SUV, however, a relatively small one, so it is very easy to get into smaller parking spots. The limited trim comes with a back up camera that pops up in the rearview mirror. This is a very unique feature and not something I have seen on other vehicles. In eight years of ownership I have not had too many problems with the car. I had one tire pressure sensor go out, one replaceable recall, and another recall that was not recommended for replacement. However within the past year the backup camera in the car has deteriorated and does not always work, sometimes the picture is cut in half, sometimes it just shows a blank screen, and sometimes it works perfectly. It really is a hit or miss with the camera, but the backup sensors have ne... (more)
Story
I often bring my car to my local beach, park it on the sand, and watch the sunset with my friends. The car drives on the sand very well and gets over the bumpiness well.
Pros
The pros to this vehicle are the backup camera, despite how the backup camera has been working recently, when the camera does work it is beyond helpful and something I can not drive without now that I have had one. The sensors as well are in my opinion a bit more helpful than the backup camera as they really help gage how close your vehicle is to an obstruction. The seat warmers in the car are another pro. One a cold morning it takes no time for the warmers to heat up the seat and keep you warm, it also feels very nice if you are experiencing some lower back discomfort. The size of the veh... (more)
Cons
The top negative thing about this car is the failing of the backup camera. It is extremely inconvenient and frustrating since the backup camera is an upgrade on the car and made the cost of the car more, just to not work in the long run. It is also something that has to go to Ford specifically to be fixed, which is even more of an inconvenience. The gas mileage on the car is not the best, it could be better. Most recently, there has been a noise coming from the back right tire, I have taken the car to Ford and no one can diagnose the problem, therefore it has yet to be fixed. Every time I ... (more)

The 2011 Ford Escape is vastly different from our 2001 and 2008 Ford Escape. The vehicle is small enough to fit into our 2 car garage, with another vehicle and my husband's work bench. The car is comfortable enough for larger person to sit comfortably for a long road trip. Due to my desire to have heated seats, we had to purchase the top model, but warm seats on a cold winter's day is worth it.
Story
I moved 3 tiered wedding cakes on the same day. I had an 8 tiered, 6 tiered and a five tiered cake, all with a 18 inch base. All of these cakes and the supports fit snuggly in the cargo area. I got pulled over for "speeding". The cop asked why I was in a hurry and told him I had less than 30 minutes to get the cake to the venue and set up. He requested that I open the cargo area to show him th... (more)
Pros
Heating and air conditioning of this vehicle is great. Car cools down quickly when it is hot outside, this is important as I deliver wedding cakes which nee to stay a cold as possible. The heating is equally fast and the car gets warm and toasty, the heated seats are worth it. The size of the auto allows enough space in a normal 2 car garage for you to move around the car. The interior seating is ideal for my husband who is a larger man, both height and weight, he is able to ride comfortably on long car rides. The back cargo area can successfully manage a 8 tiered wedding cake and all supp... (more)
Cons
The color we have is a icy blue color. I had wanted more of the ocean blue or the darker almost navy blue, but this was the only available blue at the time. I which this vehicle had the automatic gate lift, as the back door is over my weight limit. The leather interior is black, as the tan interior was not an option. Our escape has a backup camera and makes the beeping noise when backing, this drives me crazy. I understand the importance of these safety devices, but I think this one is a bit over board. I am not a fan of ABS, as I don't like giving up the control.
