It's a great truck. I don't know the horsepower or anything, but I'm sure you can look that up somewhere else. It does go when you need to go though. When you step on it, you can tell quickly that it will give you what you need. Not so super on the ice, but a truck rarely is unless its a 4x4, which mine is not. You can probably get it like that but mine isn't. If you weigh down the back though, it's fine. Decent stock radio. I blew one of the speakers, but I have a tendency to do that, so we won't blame that on the truck.
Story
I don't have a story about the truck. I take it to the store, and I come back home. It runs perfectly to do that. I took it to Milwaukee to a concert and was falling asleep on the way back and could have maybe died but had nothing to do with the truck. There was no wreck or anything.
Pros
For me, it was free, so that is amazing. But outside of that, if I bought it, I would be ok with it. It has enough power to pull trailers and room enough in the cab for a family of four—where two of them are over 6'3. Tires are cool. I can't remember if it came that way or what, but there is a different gas in there. I haven't had to air the tires up since I got it.
Cons
The problem with the brakes is annoying. It's not constant, but they will seize or something and burn through the pad in no time. I replaced them once, and it happened again. Second replacement and we're ok so far.

2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - Chevy Silverado is the way to go.

Overall, my truck has been a great reliable vehicle for me. It has had its issues but never left me stranded and never let me down. GM has always been a reliable maker of cars, and the Silverado of this year did not disappoint. It has and will continue to be my sole vehicle until it quits running. It just rolled over 200k on the odometer and doesn't miss a beat.
Story
One of my most memorable memories is riding around listening to music with the windows down through the countryside with some great friends.
Pros
The vehicle itself is rather basic, but for me, that is what I'm looking for. It is a manual transmission which is hard to find these days, and I greatly prefer automatic. Being a manual, you can greatly increase gas mileage due to how you drive the vehicle. The step sides are a great addition and add a sporty look to the vehicle. Not to mention, they increase the value because less of those were manufactured. It also has a sliding back glass which comes in handy when you want a little extra wind.
Cons
The most negative thing I have to say about my truck is that I wish it had a little more power. The V-6 just doesn't have enough get up and go for me, but it gets me where I need to be nonetheless. Being a step side, the bed space is slightly smaller than most and will hinder the ability to move larger options.
