Highly recommended for families!
I really like how much power our Chevy had with its v8 engine. It is extremely spacious in the front seat and back seat. The heater and A/C have not failed us yet and that is a must in the SW desert heat. It is very easy to drive and does very well on the highway. We've owned the truck now for 7 years and it still feels brand new with how easy it is to clean and how well it runs. I have absolutely LOVED the thermometer that shows in the rear view mirror and also love the 4-wheel drive capabilities, as those things have come in handy in more than one occasion. The only downside we've experienced with the Silverado is the some electrical issues. For example, power windows not working, random messages on the dash that would turn off and on, and the ABS button having issues from time to time. Those were the only times we had to take our truck into the shop. The truck is about to hit 100,000 miles, though, and it runs like its new. I know that it'll last us for a while and through all the traveling we do every year -- and we do a LOT! It's been perfect for our little family and dogs.

Good car.
The 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is pretty much the quintessential modern full-size pickup. It's able to do all the truck stuff you see in the TV ads -- manly tree-stump-pulling' and the like -- while simultaneously being comfortable and upscale enough for daily family use. Heck, you can probably make a family outing of stump-pulling, if you like. Followers of the half-ton Silverado know that this wasn't always the case, however. Only last year did the Silverado receive significant upgrades. Compared to earlier models, the latest redesigned truck has a much improved interior, higher-quality materials and tighter build quality. There's also new styling, a more rugged frame and redesigned steering and suspension components for better handling response and ride comfort. Topping things off is the adoption of the latest safety technologies like stability control and side curtain airbags.
