My dependable Chevy Silverado 1500
I like the vehicle from a number of standpoints including the way it looks, the height it give me off of the road, and the way it handles. I use my truck for part time jobs including Uber, an onsite trash removal service, and then for personal use. I have never had a problem with the vehicle at any point. I purchased the vehicle new from a dealership when it had 5,000 miles on it. The truck had been used as a dealer service truck, and a close friend is the general manager of that dealership. He made me a terrific offer on the truck that I could not pass up. I always drove cars, but upon moving to Texas, decided to make the transition to a truck and have been very happy with the experience. The only thing I would have preferred about this vehicle is a better cabin experience from a technology standpoint. There is no inboard navigation or other advanced digital screens that I see in similarly priced trucks. Another feature I enjoy is steps on the back bumper that allow me to step in and out of the truck bed easily.

Why I bought my Silverado.
I bought the vehicle because of a number of features that it has. It is a crew cab, which I needed because we (the family, 3 members) often traveled together. It has a nearly full size bed, and I'd used a truck a lot. It has the AFM (fuel management) system, so that whenever possible, the engine ran in 4 cylinder mode for efficiency. It has an auto-lock differential, and I'd gotten stuck with trucks that didn't have that. It has flex fuel capability. I found that I'd made a good choice, in that all of these features worked, though my driving habits kind of nullified one of them. The cab is cavernous, giving more room than most other options. The bed size has always been big enough to do the job I needed. The AFM system works great. I have gotten up to 30 mpg on the road, and typically average 25 mpg. Around town it does drop because start and stop driving makes it run in 8 cylinder mode a lot, so average is around 20 mpg. The auto-lock differential has only kicked in a few times, on wet pavement, so I've not gotten to test it in snow or mud. But I'm confident in it from what I've read. The flex fuel feature I found isn't a good choice where I live, a long way from where flex fuel is made. The long transport of such fuel allows water to be absorbed by the fuel, and it led to my having to get some new fuel injectors. I have one interior failure, the vinyl covering on the center console has cracked a bit. But in general, I really like the truck, and it still amazes me that such a large vehicle can average 25 mpg when driving down the highway.
