2014 Chevrolet Tahoe - Reliable, roomy and semi-practical

Our Tahoe has been used to cart around our two dogs, towed our race cars, and has performed beautifully. The dogs (and the few human passengers who ride in the back) love the heated second row seats, temperature control, and leg room. The car has only had one or two recalls but nothing safety related. The only discernible drawback thus far has been that fuel economy isn't stellar, but for a 5,600lb SUV it's hard to believe it would sip the gasoline. The Tahoe was able to tackle towing with relative ease, the 5.3litre LS-based engine makes ample power and cruises almost silently down the interstate. It's so quiet in city driving that my father was riding with us one day and at a stop light he thought the engine had died because it was so quiet. GM has produced a comfortable, reasonably ... Story
The most memorable moment would be towing my race in a total down pour down I-44 West last fall. The weather was total garbage, visibility was awful, the highway was congested and traffic was slow. This was the prime opportunity for the transmission to fry or for the engine to overheat. The Tahoe prevailed and made it though the horrible conditions without incident. The transmission certainly ... (more)
Pros
The removable 3rd row makes it practical for hauling as many as seven adults in comfort, and five seats have seat heaters which everyone loves. On the other side of things, if you need to carry tools, dog cages, groceries or any other large container, just pop the 3rd row seats out (my petite wife can easily lift them by herself) and you have a large storage/cargo space. You can take it a step further and buy an all weather mat for the rear if you are worried about staining the carpet.
Cons
There were no real down sides to this vehicle other than fuel economy, which is not so great.

We bought this car used from a dealer and were pleasantly surprised by the ease of handling for such a large vehicle. The sales team was great and went above and beyond to make sure that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle (being that it was used) before we drove it off the lot. Performance was wonderful. Almost immediately upon purchasing, we drove the Tahoe to Florida (about a 6-hour drive) and enjoyed a wonderful weekend. I have driven many vehicles in the past - some large, some small. This one was a comfortable large vehicle that handles like a dream. Sometimes while driving a large truck, I would feel intimidated, but not in the Tahoe! I was very happy with this purchase!!!
Story
After purchasing this vehicle, my husband was going over it and wanted to check out the fluids and other mechanical things. After checking the oil, brake fluid, washer fluid, etc., he went to look at the gas tank. He couldn't figure out how to open the gas tank to fill it up. He looked for a lever, a latch, a keyhole, a place to pull on the cover of the gas tank, but could not figure it out... (more)
Pros
Handling was awesome. Features were great as far as electronics. The seats were comfortable. Lots of leg room.
Cons
Small "trunk" area if third-row seat was being used.
